Beautiful Casa Baschi is ideally
located to explore Umbria, southern Tuscany, and northern
Lazio, and it enjoys particularly easy access to Rome. The
villa is not only elegantly furnished in a country-house way,
but most important, it is genuinely comfortable and immaculately
maintained, serving as the owners' home part of the year.
We love this house. It is the kind of place Americans expect
to find when they rent, and often don't.
Casa Baschi's owners have recently
created, on the lower ground floor of the villa, a beautiful
suite, accessible only from outside, consisting of living/dining,
kitchenette, bedroom alcove (with unifiable twins) and bath
with big shower stall. This little unit is only rented to
the same group occupying the upper part of the house. Thus,
you can rent Casa Baschi either as the main level only, or with the downstairs annex.
The house is all on one floor:
You walk into a foyer. To the immediate right is the kitchen,
fully equipped with all necessities, including dishwasher.
Straight ahead is a very spacious living/dining room combo
with beamed ceilings in the Umbrian style, fireplace, and
TV. The two bedrooms are of approximately equal size, making
the house perfect for two couples; one bedroom has a matrimonial,
the other two unifiable twin beds. Beds are excellent. Each
bedroom has an en-suite bath, one with a roomy shower stall,
the other with shower over tub. Laundry and tons of storage
are in the basement, accessed from outside. The price includes
housekeeping twice during each week; additional hours are
available at extra cost.
The manicured grounds include
a recently constructed swimming pool. This house is a true
rarity: a free-standing villa with its own pool but which
doesn't have 4 or 5 or 6 bedrooms. In fact, we know of nothing
similar of this quality anywhere in Italy. The house isn't
cheap, but it really is first-class.
PLEASE NOTE: The owners are
often in residence when the house is not rented, and they
have a cat. The housekeeper takes care of the cat when the
owners aren't around, but the cat does roam the grounds. If
you're allergic to cats and/or aren't cat lovers, Casa Baschi
is not the house for you.
