La Panoramica is a rarity: a
fully free-standing country villa located at the very highest
point in the village of Impruneta, just 20 minutes south of
Florence. The villa makes an ideal base from which to visit
both the city of Florence and everything in the Tuscan countryside.
Access to both autostrada and back roads is excellent. Impruneta,
a significant and interesting town in itself, offers all necessities:
groceries, bank, post office, coffee bars, restaurants. You
definitely don't need to go into Florence for any of the basics.
Can you walk into town? Yes,
you can. The main piazza of Impruneta, with coffee bars, shops,
and, most important, the frequent bus for Florence, lies just
about a mile down from La Panoramica. One of the first things
you come to in fact is a big Coop supermarket. But you must
take into consideration that the return up to the house is
indeed UP, not particularly steep, but a very steady rise.
La Panoramica was furnished
for its owners and therefore has the genuine feel of somebody's
own home. There are two principal levels. On the lower you'll
find an informal sitting room; a beautiful dining room lined
with windows to take maximum advantage of the views; a homey
well-equipped kitchen; an immediately adjacent bedroom with
divisible matrimonial bed; and a newly remodeled bathroom
with shower. Upstairs is an entry hall leading into a very
generously proportioned double living room with satellite
TV and decorative fireplace. Off a hallway are two matrimonial
and two twin bedrooms, which share two hall baths, one with
shower over tub, the other with shower only. Bedrooms are
comfortably but quite simply furnished, and NOT large. The
matrimonial bedrooms are slightly larger than the twins. Upstairs,
in the tower, is a pleasant air-conditioned single bedroom,
with its own bath (shower only). Washing machine, dishwasher,
telephone, satellite TV, and shortly, we hope, a separate
high-speed internet connection.
The grounds are delightful,
and the views magnificent, encompassing both the surrounding
hills and Florence itself in the distance. Up a small hill
behind the villa you'll find the property's private swimming
pool. The whole effect is one of privacy and seclusion, yet
incredibly easy accessibility to all the sights.
The ideal group for La Panoramica
is one extended family or two small families traveling together.
Multiple couples or a group of single friends can also be
made to work, but there's some bathroom sharing to be considered.
