  • Governo Vecchio - Rome

    Accommodates 4 — 2 Bedrooms — 2 Baths

You couldn't ask for a better location than this luxury Rome apartment. From Governo Vecchio, located on the street of the same name, you're literally a one-minute walk from Piazza Navona, epicenter of what makes Rome unique: its charming and colorful street life. Easy walks lead to the St. Peter's, Campo dei Fiori, the Jewish quarter, Castel Sant'Angelo, Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain. Good walkers can make it in 30 minutes or less to the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and Vatican Museum. The many buses plying their way along Corso Vittorio Emanuele will transport all you lazier folks to those destinations or wherever you want to go in the Eternal City.

The Governo Vecchio flat has recently been done up to a very high standard by the owner of our Margutta townhouse. Up one easy flight of stairs from the building entrance, the apartment consists of three generously sized rooms: an elegant living/dining room plus two essentially equal bedrooms, one with an indivisible matrimonial bed, the other with joinable twins. Mattresses are brand-new and first-rate. Each bedroom has its own full bath, one with shower, the other with shower over tub. The kitchen is really a kitchenette, but it has everything: dishwasher, two-burner stovetop, combo microwave/conventional oven, range hood, and good dishes and equipment. There's a washing machine as well, plus telephone with separate broadband line.

Furnishings and fittings are elegant throughout the flat, an appealing mixture of antiques and comfortable, tasteful modern pieces. Governo Vecchio is fully air-conditioned and independently heated. Double-glazed windows keep noise to a minimum in this busy neighborhood. Optional services available are housekeeping, as well as the services of an expert personal shopper.

Governo Vecchio is ideal for one or two couples, or for a family with up to two well-behaved children. Our highest recommendation.
